We all do our best to stay in shape, but are we using our time to the fullest? When you get on the treadmill or elliptical, do you stay at one speed for the entire time, or do you add short bursts of speed every few minutes? Hopefully you do the latter, because sprinting has been shown to increase calorie burn during AND after a workout. So next time you start your cardio workout, make sure to add a 10-20 second sprint every few minutes. If you are a beginner I would recommend doing a sprint every 2-3 minutes, giving you enough time to recover. Here is a great article detailing the other benefits of high intensity interval training (HIIT). http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/8-benefits-high-intensity-interval-training-hiit
Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to a newly designed Love Your Workout website.
Many thanks go out to the people who helped me with this, especially John and Mike Deprima, Jeremy Carey, and all of my lovely models in the photos and videos. For the month of January, let's talk about what helps you keep your resolutions, if you made any this year. I find that telling people what I am resolving to do this year holds me more accountable than simply writing them down. What about you? Any fitness or nutrition goals for 2014? Let's hear about them! Make yourself accountable! I hope everyone is back on the wagon after indulging for the holidays. If you need a little help getting back into the swing of things, I'm here for you. And as a gift for new clients I have a discount package: buy 2 sessions and get 1 free for this month. Use my contact page and let's get started :) |
